A star is born!
Donald Trump enjoys the support of no less than 70 million voters
Ohio Senator J.D. Vance with less than two years in the United States Senate annihilated Democratic vice-presidential candidate Governor Tim Walz in their debate on Tuesday night, October 1 in front of possibly 60 million people (58 million watched Kamala Harris debate Mike Pence four years ago). And he was charming, polite and even warm and friendly to him all the way through.
On the campaign trail, Vance has been a ferocious attack dog for Republican candidate Donald Trump with mixed results. He has been a huge hit with rank-and-file Trump supporters, but that was always going to be strategically unnecessary and a wrong schwerpunkt – or main axis of attack – for the Republican campaign anyway.
The former president has always been at his underestimated outstanding best, rallying the 70 million at least passionate true supporters who are now backing him for the third presidential campaign in a row – a level of loyalty and commitment not seen in since that accorded to President Franklin Roosevelt himself – all time champion of US national presidential election campaigns – from 1932 to 1944.
What Vance instead needed to do, as I have noted before, was to convince Democrats he was not an ogre, lower the partisan intensity of the national debate and above all convince small but crucial numbers of swing and undecided voters to back the Republican ticket. And he did it.
Vance provided crucial impetus to Trump’s campaign
By being a gentleman and recognizing the importance of how he looked in simple apparently unimportant reaction shots (what Tom Hanks himself has called the most overlooked, underrated and important aspect of movie acting), Vance rang every bell in the playground of presidential politics with implications that could echo for generations down the corridors of American politics.
First, he gave a crucial extra boost to the Trump campaign when it was already back on its feet and doing well. In my last analysis in these columns, I noted that polling data showed Democratic candidate, current Vice President Kamala Harris narrowly but still crucially expanding her lead over Trump. However, since then, Trump has gone on doing what he does superlatively well: hammering home on the key issues at enthusiastic, extremely well attended rallies across Heartland America.
Consequently, Trump’s poll results have rallied and steadily risen in states from Arizona to Georgia – all the heartland places that the New York, Washington and Los Angeles insecure talking heads and arrogant intellectual snobs – true walking examples of T.S. Eliot’s Hollow Men – despise.
Second, Vance succeeded where Trump did in June in his now epic debate victory over Joe Biden. He exposed the total worthlessness and hopelessness of his opponent: and he did so before a national audience.
In other words, Vance broke through the true “Blue Wall” defending the Democrats, their “1984”-level control of national media manipulation and brainwashing. The American people could see with their own eyes that Vance was not a hate crazed demagogue at all and was capable of rational, normal, civilized, humane, thoughtful and controlled debate.
Vance’s controlled and dignified performance predictably sent the uber-intellectuals of the liberal repressive ruling elite into paroxysms of foaming at the mouth rage. Note particularly the hysterical and therefore highly entertaining attack on Vance by Lee Siegel in the British pseudo-conservative platform UnHerd, which really should know better.
Third, Vance did to Walz what Trump did to the creepy, sinister Joe “Tiny Turd” Biden himself in their national debate watched by 67 million people in June. Trump did not have to raise his voice an octave.
Since his one debate with Trump, Joe Biden has simply ceased to exist. There is no sense in which he can be described as a living functioning President of the United States at all. And that is why the US Mainstream Media (MSM) and the national Democratic Party establishment is obsessed with pretending he is no longer there at all.
Yet Biden, or his ghost, horrifically remains Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States and entrusted with the nuclear release codes.
But suppose, Kamala Harris and the helpless, ludicrous floundering Walz – for so he was exposed to be on Tuesday night – somehow eke out a victory in November’s presidential election.
Or suppose, due to national economic mega crisis (as in 1929 and 1987 – they always hit Wall Street and America in October) or the outbreak of war with Russia or across the Middle East (all too likely with Biden still in theoretical charge), the election is never held at all – offering the Democrats a shameful excuse to try and grab for eternal power, what happens to Vance then?
The time has come for the election of a U.S. president who will change the face of the country for generations to come
Why! Thanks to his performance in the Vice-Presidential Debate with Walz, Vance has now established himself as a potential dignified, impressive, coherent and credible leader of 330 million Americans. If the brainless, policy-less, witless, fearfully fake-smiling Kamala Harris and the awful, infernal, little, fraudulent black hole that may once have been Joe Biden can be plausibly presented to the American people as credible national leaders, then Vance will have no trouble at all. He has already aced it.
This is not to say it will happen in November or next year or soon at all. Franklin Roosevelt himself went down to apparently catastrophic defeat as the vice-presidential running mate of Governor James Cox from Vance’s own state of Ohio against Republican Warren Harding in 1920. Richard Nixon, after having the 1960 presidential election results stolen from him in the Democrat-controlled states of Texas and Illinois, went down to humiliating defeat against homey local issues Governor Pat Brown in California in 1962.
Then, even the sainted Ronald Reagan himself lost two very serious bids for the Republican presidential nomination in 1968 and 1976. But Their Times Came. And so did Bill Clinton’s, after he lost big even to ridiculous little Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis in 1988 for the Democratic presidential nomination. But Big Bill’s time came next time round – and how!
In my 2015 book “Cycles of Change,” I identified both the key dominant, shaping transformational US presidents who repeatedly reshaped their huge nation for generations to come. I also identified the Prophetic Precursors who paved the way for them and broke the old, obsolete, corrupt and dying political orthodoxies that were desperately trying to hang on long beyond their appointed time.
Since 2015, I have repeatedly identified Trump as the most outstanding and successful of all the Prophetic Precursors so far from Aaron Burr in 1800, John Fremont in 1856, William Jennings Bryan in 1896, Al Smith in 1928 and Barry Goldwater in 1964.
But who was Trump’s successor going to be? That figure has now emerged. He has claimed the Mantle of America’s Political Future.
It is Senator Vance.
