Coordinator of the Environmental Sciences Laboratory and of the Center for Integrated Studies on Climate Change and the Environment. Full Professor of the Energy Planning Program at COPPE/UFRJ, Institute for Research and Graduate Studies of Engineering, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Graduated in Electrical Engineering at PUC-RJ, in Economics, and M.Sc. in Systems Engineering at UFRJ. D. Sc. in Economics (EHESS, Paris, France 1980). Coordinating lead author and lead author of several reports of the IPCC, contributing since 1992 to the award of 50% of the Nobel Peace Prize to the IPCC in 2007. Chair of the Carbon Economics Task Force of the Brazilian Climate Change Forum. Author of a Commentary to T20 Brasil (think thank group supporting G-20 in 2024).
