Mario Giro

Former Extraordinary Professor of History of International Relations at the University for Foreigners in Perugia and Vice-President of SACE, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from May 2013 to June 2018 (Letta, Renzi, and Gentiloni governments). From November 2011 to April 2013, he was an advisor to Prof. Andrea Riccardi, Minister of Cooperation and Integration (Monti government) and head of the cooperation mission structure in the government’s Palazzo Chigi. A volunteer for the Community of Sant’Egidio since 1975, he has been involved in programs concerning Africa, particularly peace mediation and interreligious dialogue. Expert in African politics and mediation of armed conflicts at the global level. He also handled hostage releases and kidnappings. He is a single director of Dante Global, LLC.
