America’s No Labels Movement Offers Itself as Alternative to Biden and Trump

The US “Non-aligned” said they will soon present an “independent candidate” for the US presidential election in November

No Labels is the name of a “centrist” American organization that takes to the streets in the midst of the electoral campaign and declares its intention to present an independent candidate in the US presidential election on November 5.

According to analysts, the entry of No Labels into the game should primarily worry the Democrats, as nominating “a truly independent candidate could split incumbent Joe Biden’s voters.”

And that’s because No Labels was founded in 2009 by Nancy Jacobson, a former fundraising coordinator for Democratic politicians, including Biden. The movement’s slogan is: “Not left, not right, forward.” The organization, which calls itself a “national movement of commonsense Americans,” announced it will begin a “candidate selection process” next week. According to US media, it will be a difficult task, as “several prominent politicians associated with the movement have given up the fight for the White House.”

But Democrats quietly expressed “concern” that No Labels could turn wavering voters away from Joe Biden in favor of his Republican rival, Donald Trump.

According to Mike Rawlings, one of the leaders of No Labels, after the video-conference vote, which decided to present a candidate “above the parties,” “the desire of the movement’s supporters to unite this divided nation was clear on the screen.”

“These citizens of the United States believe that this is a just cause and that the No Labels program should give Americans what they want, another choice,” Rawlings added, assuring that the 800 delegates voted “almost unanimously” to present a presidential candidate.
