The day before, Kimberly Cheatle acknowledged “the failure of the federal agency to prevent an attack on Trump” at a congressional hearing
US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned. This was reported by US broadcaster ABC, citing “some very well-informed sources.” On Monday, July 22, Cheatle, one of outgoing President Joe Biden’s supporters, found herself “under pressure” during a congressional hearing on the July 13 assassination attempt on former Republican president and November presidential candidate Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“The United States Secret Service (abbreviated simply as the Secret Service, or USSS), is an agency of the United States federal government, overseen by the Department of Homeland Security, responsible for protecting United States presidents, their families, presidential candidates, and heads of state visiting the United States.”
After the attack on Trump, many hints of possible and probable Secret Service involvement circulated on social media. The American media recalled the plot of the 2007 movie Shooter starring Mark Wahlberg, which practically predicted what would happen in Pennsylvania 17 years later.
