Paolo Deganutti's publication is a collection of “geopolitical essays” in which Trieste is a privileged point of observation of the global geopolitical situation
At a time when the conflict is dangerously spreading globally, the Italian port of Trieste is once again assuming a strategic role: a maritime gateway to Central Eastern Europe and NATO’s eastern flank.
The book by Paolo Deganutti, a Pluralia contributor (all his articles here), titled “Trieste, International Free Port or NATO Military Bastion?” (€13.99, available on Amazon and in the best bookstores in Italy), delves deeper into this topic, presenting a collection of “Trieste geopolitical essays,” that is, in which Trieste is used as a privileged vantage point for observing the global situation and, in particular, Eurasia.
The publication is inspired by recent articles in reputable American journals that emphasize the US intention to include the port of Trieste in a military project to contain Russia and China on NATO’s eastern flank in Europe.
And the port city of Trieste on the Adriatic Sea is located on a sensitive geopolitical fault line and is included in the global geopolitical structure with special attention to the role of its free port.
The book includes an introduction inspired by current events on the world stage, numerous geopolitical maps that help and contextualize the results, and articles that the author himself has published in national journals, such as Analisi Difesa, Limes, and Pluralia (the latter published in Italian, English, Russian, and Chinese).
