China is willing to deepen cooperation with the international community under the “Comprehensive Development Initiative” promoted by President Xi Jinping
The BRICS countries should intensify joint efforts to create a “multipolar, just, and orderly” world. As Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi (pictured) said during a meeting with the heads of diplomacy of the ten BRICS countries in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, “no single country in the world has the right to control the global security agenda, and no country has the right to build its own security on the insecurity of others, while lasting peace cannot ignore common security.”
According to Minister Wang, the BRICS group should “contribute to the improvement of global governance, support the full participation of countries in the global South in economic decision-making processes,” and always keep in mind “the needs of the aforementioned countries in terms of financing for development, poverty reduction, energy, and food security.”
Wang’s statements reflect the most important items on the agenda of the next BRICS summit, which will be held in Kazan, Russia, from October 22 to 24. In addition to the heads of state and government of the ten BRICS member states – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Ethiopia – leaders from 35 countries have confirmed their participation in the summit. Many countries, including Turkey, have formally applied for admission to BRICS.
BRICS policies are intertwined with the respective initiatives of the member countries. In this context, Wang Yi said China is “willing to deepen cooperation with the international community under the Comprehensive Development Initiative launched by President Xi Jinping in 2021.” According to Wang Yi, “no country should be left behind in the process of global modernization.”
