China Denies iPhone Ban In Its Ministries

The news spread all over the world that Chinese officials were banned from using iPhones at work. Beijing denies this.

“China has not issued any laws, regulations, or policies prohibiting the purchase and use of foreign-brand smartphones, including the iPhone,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said at a daily briefing in Beijing.

He reacted to information from the American newspaper Wall Street Journal, according to which Beijing, for security reasons, decided to ban government employees from using Apple smartphones, as well as smartphones made in South Korea.

International observers, however, note that in China there is no need for a “special law” for certain things, but a “recommendation from above, even verbal” is enough to “form up everyone.”

In Russia, some ministries have banned the use of iPhones for calls and work messages, since American devices can spy on owners of “bitten apple” cell phone.
