Exchanges between museums, film studios, and art schools are planned
During a recent visit to Beijing by Saudi Culture Minister Badr bin Abdullah, China and the Kingdom signed a series of agreements to strengthen cultural cooperation between the two countries, already closely linked by various political and economic agreements. On the Chinese side, the agreements were signed by the Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism, Sun Yeli.
As Chinese newspapers wrote on Sunday, March 31, “the agreements are designed to expand cultural cooperation between Beijing and Riyadh and promote exchanges between museums in the two countries.” The Chinese and Saudi authorities also pledged to “introduce their peoples to their respective cultural heritages, which will include theater and theatrical arts, fine arts, architecture, and design.” There will be exchanges between libraries, as well as between artisans and traditional artists.
During the meeting, Saudi Minister bin Abdullah thanked the Chinese side for choosing Saudi Arabia as the “guest of honor” for this year’s Beijing International Book Fair, which will be held in June. “With the support of the leadership of the two friendly countries, a new chapter of Saudi-Chinese cultural cooperation with various agreements is beginning,” the Saudi minister summarized on the X social networking site (formerly Twitter).
