The presentation of the plan commissioned by Ursula von der Leyen is scheduled for September 9
Fundamental reforms and their implementation as soon as possible. This will help the EU regain strength and competitiveness, according to what Mario Draghi, former president of the European Central Bank and former Italian prime minister, has been repeating for months.
The European Commission has entrusted the Italian economist and politician to prepare a dossier to renew the competitiveness of the European Union, a dossier to be presented in detail on Monday, September 9; and today a meeting was held with permanent representatives of EU countries. Mario Draghi, according to sources reported by Italian news agency ANSA, explained the absolute necessity of unprecedented reforms involving all members of the Union.
According to initial news reports, Draghi’s dossier consists of 400 pages and is organized into five macro chapters that deal with: productivity, reducing dependencies, climate, social integration, and recipes for individual sectors based on ten major economic dossiers.
Among the Union’s serious current weaknesses are low competitiveness, lack of innovation, too high energy costs, and delayed digitalization. There is also a desire to reform the military industry and credit systems.
