Erdogan Invites Musk To Build A Tesla Factory In Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has received the founder of SpaceX and Tesla and the current owner of X-Twitter, Elon Musk, at the Turkish House in New York.

The Turkish leader, who is in the Big Apple to attend the 78th UN General Assembly starting on September 19, invited Musk to build a Tesla factory in Turkey.

“During the meeting, President Erdogan explained to Musk Turkey’s moves in the field of technology, the vision of ‘Digital Turkey,’ and the national strategy in the field of artificial intelligence,” the Turkish Communications Authority said in a communiqué. “After the arrival of Togg (Ankara’s first electric car – ed.) on Turkish roads, Tesla entered the Turkish market. “President Erdogan invited Musk to open Tesla’s seventh plant in Turkey.”

Musk, again according to a Turkish source, explained that various Turkish companies are already working with Tesla and stated that he wants to cooperate with Turkish authorities to obtain the necessary license to also provide Starlink satellite services in Turkey.

Tesla currently has six factories, with a seventh already under construction in Mexico. Nonetheless, there are plans to build a new factory, and the South African tycoon has explained several times that its location will be revealed by the end of 2023.

Erdogan also explained that there could be a collaboration with SpaceX in the future, which could help the developing Turkish space project and invited Musk to Teknofest that will be held in Izmir from September 27 to October 1.
