Eurozone: Inflation Estimates Fall Slightly

The annual inflation rates in the eurozone are falling: 5.2% in August versus 5.3% in July, while last year they were 9.1%.

This is stated in Eurostat data, which revised downwards the operational estimate for August to 5.3%. If we consider the entire European Union, the annual inflation rate was 5.9% in August, 6.1% in July, and 10.1% a year ago.

Looking at different countries, in Italy inflation decreased from 6.3% in July to 5.5% in August, in Germany it is above average (6.4%), as is also the case in France (5.7%). The “worst” countries are Hungary (14.2%), Czech Republic (10.1%), and Slovakia (9.6%), while the most favorable are Denmark (2.3%), Spain (2.4%), and Belgium (2.4%).
