Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson Hopes for Trump’s Re-Election

For former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Donald Trump's return to the White House would be “just what the world needs”

Former US President Donald Trump’s victory in the November 2024 US election could be what the world needs right now. This was stated by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. In his weekly column in England’s Daily Mail newspaper, Johnson wrote: “If you look at the facts, you can actually make a case — and I may as well make it now — that a Trump presidency could be just what the world needs.”

Johnson called on the “arrogant and presumptuous globalists,” branded with the English neologism “wokerati,” who oppose Trump’s candidacy, to calm down: “We all need to grow up and get used to the prospect. If he does the right thing and backs the Ukrainians — and I believe he will — a Trump presidency can be a big win for the world,” the former prime minister wrote.

Trump has repeatedly openly criticized NATO, saying he could end the war between Russia and Ukraine in 24 hours. Trump also questioned whether he would continue to support Ukraine if re-elected, while publicizing his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In recent days, Ukrainian President Zelensky has invited Trump, a big favorite of the Republican Party, to visit Kiev: “If he really manages to stop the war in 24 hours, I think he should visit Kiev as soon as possible,” the Ukrainian president said in an interview with Channel 4 News.

Finally, at the level of bilateral relations between the USA and the UK, Johnson said he believes Trump is interested in a “proper free trade deal” with the UK after talks with current White House resident Joe Biden were abandoned last year.
