Chinese electronics and telecommunications giant Huawei, a thorn in the side of Washington accusing it of espionage, has presented a revolutionary technology for ultrafast short-distance data transfer. Its parameters significantly exceed the “classic” Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The Chinese innovation combines the advantages of both standards in one product, but significantly exceeds all relevant indicators. NearLink is six times faster, with latency reduced to 1/30 of a millisecond and power consumption cut by 60%. According to Huawei, the new standard guarantees the highest signal quality, described as “anti-interference” thanks to improved stability of +7 dB, offering double the coverage area and 10 times the number of simultaneously connected devices than traditional standards.
For this moment, the new technology, also known as StarLight, is only available on the Huawei Mate 60 Pro series smartphones, MatePad Pro 13.2 tablets, and FreeBuds Pro 3 earphones, as it requires a mysterious “hardware component.” In particular, this could be the new Kirin 9000s chip, which the “flagship” of the entire line of Huawei gadgets is equipped with.
The Kirin 9000S processor is manufactured by the Chinese company SMIC using 7-nanometer technology and represents China’s political message to Washington that has imposed severe restrictions on the export of advanced technologies to China. This way, the White House was going to block China’s progress in the strategic chip industry.
