170,000 new volunteers recruited by the Democratic Party
Kamala Harris has the wind in her sails. Since the Vice President took Joe Biden’s place (obvious, but as yet unofficial) as the Democratic Party’s nominee for the November 5, 2024 US presidential election, the campaign has changed radically. After the Biden fatigue that infected the entire party, there has been a clear change under Harris. Harris is closing the gap to Donald Trump in the polls, capitalizing on the new momentum and staying on the sidelines on the most controversial issues.
The results so far are sensational: in just one week, Kamala Harris’ campaign has raised $200 million dollars while attracting 170,000 new volunteers. The was announced by Rob Flaherty, vice president of the Harris campaign, who also added that 66% of the money raised comes from new donors.
According to Reuters, Trump’s campaign has raised $331 million in fundraising for the second quarter of 2024, compared to $264 million raised by Biden’s campaign.
With 100 days to go until the election, the fight is closer than ever, as also evidenced by the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, which shows substantial parity between Trump and Harris.
