The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in cooperation with the Austrian lending institution Erste Bank will provide 100 million Euros
Serbia continues to develop new renewable energy sources. After reaching an agreement with the Chinese company Trona Solar to build a solar park near the town of Zrenjanin in northern Serbia, the Belgrade government announced that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will finance the construction of the new Pupin wind farm in the province of Vojvodina. The financing, estimated at €100 million, will be provided by the EBRD in cooperation with Austrian lending institution Erste Bank. The wind farm will include 16 turbines with a total capacity of 94.4 megawatts of electricity. It is estimated that this will be sufficient to meet the electricity needs of approximately 40,000 households.
The technical implementation of the project was entrusted to the Israeli company Enlight Renewable Energy. The contract signing took place in the presence of Serbian Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, CEO of the State Energy Corporation of Serbia (EPS) Dušan Živković, EBRD Regional Director for the Western Balkans Matteo Colangeli, and Israeli Ambassador to Serbia Yahel Vilan.
