Robert Kennedy Jr. Announces He Will Run As Independent Candidate

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will run as an independent candidate in the next US presidential election that will take place in November 2024.

Against war, against the polarization of public opinion, against corruption and “strong powers,” in support of the working class. Those are the strong themes of the former senator’s son, writer and lawyer, an environmental activist, who has made headlines for his anti-vaccination stances during the pandemic, who announced his candidacy as an independent candidate October 9 during an event in Philadelphia.

The only thing missing until now was his own announcement, given that the American media had already been broadcasting for days this hypothesis, which then became nearly obvious with the start of today’s meeting. The campaign website Kennedy24 actually announced the slogan “DECLARE YOUR INDEPENDENCE” in big letters, with a link to a YouTube live stream (which can be found below), where he will make a “historic announcement.” All this is accompanied by the message: “We will forever end wars, we will clean up the government, we will increase prosperity for everyone, and we will tell Americans the truth.”

“I am an independent candidate, I am an independent candidate for the presidency of the United States of America, and I join you here to accept a new declaration of independence. Independence from Wall Street, from big tech companies, from big pharma companies, from the military lobby, and from the corrupt media… and finally, independence from two political parties,” Kennedy Jr. explained to the crowd gathered in front of the National Constitution Center.

Now the hardest work awaits him – the actual fight for the presidency. Never in history, with the exception of George Washington, has a nonpartisan candidate been elected. On several occasions, however, such a candidate has found himself at the tip of the scale, taking away decisive votes, such as Green Party independent candidate Ralph Nader, who took away decisive votes from Al Gore, paving the way for George W. Bush.

According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted last week, Kennedy Jr. could win over one in seven US voters, stealing votes from both Biden and Trump. And in recent days, news has also spread that Elon Musk may enter the field with a now officially independent candidate.
