Shots Fired at Rally: Trump Wounded in Ear

The attack on the former US president took place in Pennsylvania, the shooter was immediately identified and killed

Donald Trump is fine after being shot in the ear. The shots rang out during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The tycoon was instantly surrounded by security forces and immediately stood up, although the right side of his face was bleeding, and was led away, raising a clenched fist with the words “Let’s fight, let’s fight, let’s fight, let’s fight,” while onlookers shouted “USA, USA, USA, USA.”

The attacker, who fired from the roof of a building 150 meters from the stage where Trump was speaking, was immediately killed by police. Another rally attendee died and two others were injured.

“They shot me with a bullet that pierced the top of my right ear,” Trump himself explained via his Truth social media account. “It is unbelievable that such an act is happening in the USA,” he added.

According to the FBI, the shooter turned out to be 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who lived in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, about 35 miles south of the rally site. He was killed on the spot by Secret Service agents. According to local public records, he was registered as a Republican, though he donated to a Democratic group in 2021, CNN reported.

The White House immediately said Biden was “grateful to know he’s OK,” then said he had tried to talk to “Donald, but he’s at the doctors.” Finally, a conversation took place between the two, but its content was not reported. An official White House statement emphasized that “there is no place for this kind of violence in America. It is sick. That’s why we have to unite this country, we can’t let these kinds of things happen, we have to condemn violence, we can’t be like this.”

Trump’s campaign staff has made it clear that his attendance at the Republican Party convention, which will be held in Wisconsin from July 15 to 18, is not in doubt. “President Trump is healthy and looks forward to joining all of you in Milwaukee.” There he will be officially designated as the Republican Party’s nominee for the next presidential election.
