Slovakia: Fico’s Life No Longer in Danger

However, his condition remains serious

Deputy Prime Minister Robert Kalinak has provided an update on the condition of Prime Minister Robert Fico, stating that while his condition remains serious, he is no longer in danger and continues to receive “intensive care.”

On May 15, Fico suffered multiple gunshot wounds during an attack in Handlova, where a government meeting was taking place. He was rushed to a hospital in Banska Bystrica in critical condition and has since undergone two surgeries.

The suspected attacker, 71-year-old Juraj Cintula, has been arrested and charged with attempted premeditated murder with intent to seek revenge. He faces a potential prison sentence ranging from 25 years to life. The suspect has admitted to shooting Fico, but claims he only intended to wound the prime minister, not kill him.
