The two countries will be linked by about 50 weekly flights
Kazakhstan intends to work with Egypt to strengthen bilateral cooperation, paying special attention to the tourism sector. In Cairo, Egyptian Minister of Tourism Sherif Fathy Ali Attyah received Ambassador of Kazakhstan Kairat Lama Sharif for a conversation. The current situation and prospects for the development of tourist exchange between the two countries were analyzed.
During the talks it was emphasized that Kazakhstan and Egypt “have shared a rich historical and cultural heritage for centuries.” In this context, the sides also discussed the joint protection of more than 150 antiquities found on the territory of the two countries.
Kazakhstan is implementing a strategic plan to become a global transportation hub for tourist flows from the former Soviet republics of Central Asia, as well as from greater Russia. According to the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, the number of flights to Egypt reached 30 per week in the summer of 2024 with an expected increase to 48 flights per week. Airlines from Kazakhstan and Egypt – Air Astana, Scat, FlyArystan, Egypt Air, Red Sea, and Nile Air – allow about 200,000 tourists to visit Egypt annually through the airports of Almaty, Astana, Atyrau, Aktobe, and Kostanai.
Kazakhstan also wants to attract tourists from Egypt and other African countries. To present the opportunities offered to tourists by Kazakhstan, the Kazakh diplomat invited the Egyptian Minister of Tourism to participate as a guest of honor at the fifth World Nomad Games scheduled to be held in Astana from September 8 to 13, which will be attended by about four thousand athletes from more than 100 countries.
