The change of several ministers comes just over a month before the next presidential election
Tunisian President Kais Saied has launched a major government reshuffle, replacing 19 ministers and 3 secretaries of state. The executive change comes just over a month before the presidential election, set for October 6, 2024.
The changes were announced on the Tunisian president’s Facebook page, which lists the new appointments, but no explanation was given as to the reasons that led to a change of this magnitude.
Thus, according to social media reports, Mohamed Ali Al-Nfti is the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mustafa Al-Farjani is the Minister of Health, Samir Abdul Hafeez is the Minister of Economy and Planning, Issam Al-Ahmar is the Minister of Social Affairs, Samir Obaid is the Minister of Trade and Export Development, Ezzuddin bin Sheikh is the Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Marine Fisheries, Nour Aldin Al-Nouri is the Minister of Education, Munzer Belaid is the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Sadiq Morali is the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sufyan Al-Hamisi is the Minister of Telecommunications Technology, Rashid Amri is the Minister of Transportation, Al-Hazili is the Minister of Property and Real Estate, Habib Obaid is the Minister of Environment, Sufyan Taqia is the Minister of Tourism, Ahmed Al-Bohali is the Minister of Religious Affairs, Asmaa Jabri is the Minister of Family, Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, Amina Al-Sararafi is the Minister of Culture, Riadh Shoud is the Minister of Operations and Vocational Training.
In practice, only five ministries were not affected: justice, interior, finance, energy, and infrastructure.
