United Arab Emirates: Exhibition of Italian Marble Opens in Dubai

Italian Ambassador to Abu Dhabi Lorenzo Fanara: “The exhibition is designed to present marble as a superb combination of Italian art and construction”

Economic, scientific, and cultural cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Italy is intensifying. Following the success of the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum, which took place in Ras Al Khaimah on December 5-6, the exhibition “Marmo. Marble. Carving the Future,” organized by the Embassy of Italy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of Italy in Dubai, has opened in the UAE. The event is part of an international tour with stops at various points in Italy’s diplomatic and consular network around the world. The exhibition has previously visited Mexico, the USA, and Algeria.

Marmo. Marble. Carving the Future” is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, organized in close collaboration with Confindustria Marmomacchine and the ICE agency, with the Italian Magister Art agency in charge of conceptualization and practical implementation.

The exhibition, taking place in the prestigious Foundry Downtown Dubai exhibition space (pictured), will offer Emirati and international visitors an immersion into the world of Italian marble through themes of durability, technique, and beauty. “This exhibition,” said Italian Ambassador Lorenzo Fanara at the opening ceremony, “is designed to showcase marble as a superb combination of Italian art and construction. Marble in all its shades and processes is an expression of Italy’s artistic and architectural identity. And for that reason, it deserves a special exhibition in Dubai.”

According to Edoardo Napoli, Consul General of Italy in Dubai, “the innovative format of the exhibition is perfectly adapted to Dubai’s context and its propensity to create new cultural experiences through technology.”

According to the Magister Art agency, the concept of the exhibition aims to reinforce the deep interconnections between culture, territory, creativity, and production quality that distinguish the uniqueness of “Made in Italy” in the world. Marble and natural stone are some of the main distinctive materials of Italian manufacturing. Through their architectural and sculptural use in history and today through their plasticity, they provide a unique and unprecedented narrative and exhibition context. This concept of the technological path is intended to present a global vision of an extraordinary supply chain in constant dialog between business and art, between contemporary artifacts and the works of master sculptors Michelangelo, Bernini, and Canova, to reflect the praise of the power, technique and beauty of the static material in the first place.

The exhibition itinerary is based solely on original music tracks, soundtracks created specifically to connect each medium through a captivating sound experience that takes visitors on a journey of great insight and emotional impact.

The exhibition will be open to the public in Dubai with free admission from December 20, 2024 to January 14, 2025.
