USA: Biden Restarts Wall On Mexican Border

Joe Biden has changed his mind and now also wants to build the wall on the border with Mexico. Physically separating the two countries has always been one of the “workhorses” of his predecessor and rival Donald Trump.

The idea, opposed by Democrats, of building a divider, or rather new sections of it, given that barriers already exist along the borders with California, Arizona, and New Mexico, while much of the border with Texas coincides with the Rio Grande River, is now seen as a necessity, because the situation is getting out of control. The Department of Homeland Security said it needed to waive a number of laws, regulations, and other requirements (20 in total) “to allow for the rapid construction of barriers and roads near the international land border in Starr County, Texas.”

There is talk about building 20-mile walls in the Rio Grande Valley, which, ironically, will use the funds allocated by the Trump administration in 2019. The number of migrants has continued to rise steadily in recent months, with Border Patrol counting more than 245,000 people entering the United States in the Rio Grande Valley sector during the current fiscal year.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas explained that “there is currently a dire and urgent need to build physical barriers and roads near the United States border to prevent illegal entry into the United States.”

Donald Trump’s comment on the situation was not long in coming: “I wonder if Biden will apologize to me and to America for being so late and allowing our country to be flooded with 15 million migrants,” he wrote on his Truth social media page.
