USA-China Meeting, Xi Jinping: Our Relations Determine Future Of Humanity

For better or worse, the relations between China and the USA will have an impact on the future of humanity.

So said Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who on the sidelines of a meeting with US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer explained, “The way China and the USA get along in the face of a world of change and turmoil will determine the future and destiny of humanity.”

Schumer is currently visiting Beijing as representative of a bipartisan delegation that met with Chinese President and with the Head of Diplomacy Wang Xi.

According to China’s Xinhua News Agency, Xi Jinping emphasized that “China-US relations are the most important bilateral relations in the world.” China argues that the two countries’ common interests far outweigh their differences and that the respective successes of China and the USA are an opportunity, not a challenge.”

On the other hand, with the exception of recent trade wars, the two countries’ economies are closely interconnected, and therefore “both countries can benefit from mutual development,” Xi Jinping continued. “Global economic recovery from the pandemic, climate change, and addressing urgent international and regional challenges” require coordination and cooperation between China and the United States. As two great countries, China and the USA must demonstrate open-mindedness, foresight, and willingness to meet the expectations of the international community, acting with a sense of responsibility towards the history, people, and society of the world.
