After confirming its majority in the Senate, the Republican Party will also dominate the House of Representatives
The Republican Party will dominate the political scene in the United States. After a 100-seat Senate seat renewal in the November 5 election, Republicans won 52 seats while the Democratic Party won only 47. One seat has yet to be allocated in Pennsylvania, where votes are still being counted at this point. However, it is known that Republican candidate Dave McCormick is ahead of Democrat Bob Casey by more than 26,000 votes.
The electoral successes guaranteed the “elephant party” control of at least 218 of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives, while the Democrats are stuck at 208, with 9 “appropriations” still open as the vote count is still pending. The House of Representatives was already under the control of Republicans, who took 7 more seats from their Democratic rivals.
This is a particularly important fact for President-elect Donald Trump, who will be able to implement his political and economic agenda after taking office in the White House on January 20, counting on Republican majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
