After consent from the former South Carolina governor, the Republican candidate decided to welcome her back to his team
Following Nikki Haley’s recent initiatives, Donald Trump announced that the former South Carolina governor and opponent in the Republican primary “will be on our team in one way or another.”
On May 22, Haley, who was also the US representative to the United Nations, said in a speech at the Hudson Institute, a conservative think tank, that she would vote for Donald Trump in the presidential election to be held on November 5, 2024. It was she who surrendered last of the challengers against the tycoon and suffered the verbal exuberance of Trump, who called her a “mindless chicken” after her defeat in Washington, DC.
Haley explained that her priority is a president who “secures the borders” and seeks to “support capitalism and freedom. Trump has not been perfect on these issues. I’ve clearly said that many times,” however, Biden “is a disaster. That’s why I’m going to vote for Trump.”
And now some conciliatory words have come from Trump as well: “We have a lot of similar ideas, a lot of beliefs overlap. I appreciated what she said, the campaign was very difficult, but she is a very capable person, and I am sure she will be part of our team one way or another.” Some analysts have talked about a possible vice-presidential nomination for Haley, although Trump recently denied the possibility.
Either way, the rapprochement unites the Republican Party by helping more moderate voters who supported the former ambassador to the UN.
