A year before the US presidential election, Donald Trump is ahead of his rival Joe Biden in almost all swing states.
This was reported by the New York Times newspaper, which released a survey conducted jointly with the Siena College Research Institute, according to which the next presidential election, on November 5, 2024, could go differently than the 2020 election, when Joe Biden hindered Donald Trump’s re-election.
“The only good news for President Joe Biden in this New York Times/Siena College poll is that it was conducted a year before voters go to the polls,” explained Don Levy, director of the research institute.
In 5 of the 6 most important “battleground” states, the ones that swing between Republicans and Democrats, Trump is in charge. Particularly, in Pennsylvania the tycoon is favored by 4 percentage points more, in Michigan and Arizona by 5 each, in Georgia by 6, in Nevada by a whole 11 points, and in Wisconsin, Joe Biden is ahead by 3 points.
“In all six battleground states, 59% of voters disapprove of the job Biden is doing as president,” says Levy, who also explains that if it were a “typical Democrat” instead of Biden, the situation would change, and Trump will be at a disadvantage.
In states surveyed, seven in 10 voters say Biden is “too old to be an effective president,” while 59% disagree that Trump is too old to be an effective president.” They say Biden’s policies have harmed rather than helped them personally, including 88% of Republicans, 53% of independents, and 16% of Democrats,” Levy concludes, “while Trump has a majority of voters, 51-34 %, say his policies have helped them personally.” All six of these states went for Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
