Summit on April 23, 2024 in Hanoi: “Building a rapidly developing, sustainable, people-centered ASEAN community”
The future development of ASEAN, the association of Southeast Asian nations, will be discussed during the first ASEAN Future Forum to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam on April 23, 2024 and titled: “Building a rapidly developing, sustainable, people-centered ASEAN community.”
The meeting was organized by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to promote dialogue between the participating countries: Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei, and Cambodia.
ASEAN has a GDP of about 3700 billion dollars, making it the third largest economy in Asia and the fifth largest in the world, and is projected to become the world’s fourth largest economy in 2030, just behind the United States, China, and India. The bloc has a population of over 670 million people, 60% of whom are under 35 years of age.
The rapid development of these countries, sustainable economic growth, and global security will be the topics discussed at the forum. Among the most representative meetings are “Changing ASEAN Centrality” and “Seizing Development Opportunities in the Digital Age.”
