Xi And Biden Will Discuss “Global Peace And Development”

The long-awaited meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden will take place on Wednesday, November 15, in San Francisco.

The summit of APEC, an organization that unites 21 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, is planned to be held in this Californian city. Russia will also be present, with President Vladimir Putin being represented by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.

The face-to-face meeting between Xi Jinping and Biden begins with more favorable prospects than the one that took place a year ago in Bali, on the occasion of the G20 summit. Last summer, Nancy Pelosi, then Speaker of the US House of Representatives, visited Taiwan, creating a difficult diplomatic situation. Now, in spite of – or perhaps precisely because – the more complex international situation, as well as domestic situations for both leaders, it seems relatively calmer. The meeting was preceded by various diplomatic missions, and the talks will focus on sensitive issues of economic competition and international security.

Beijing’s Foreign Ministry said Xi and Biden would discuss “global peace and development.”

An example is what Dong Yue wrote in the Chinese Xinhua News Agency: “As President Xi Jinping emphasized, the most important development in international relations over the past 50 years has been the resumption and development of China-US relations, which has benefited the two countries and the whole world. Looking to the future, Xi Jinping said that the most important development in international relations in the next 50 years for China and the USA will be to find the right path to mutual understanding.”
