Xi Jinping: China, USA Gain from Cooperation

China's president congratulated Donald Trump

Donald Trump is the 47th president of the United States, and on November 7, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his congratulations.

Xi Jinping urged the two countries to find the right way of interaction in the new era to benefit both countries and the world. This was reported by Xinhua news agency, which relayed the words of the leader: “History teaches that China and the USA gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation. Stable, solid, and sustainable China-US relations serve the common interests of the two countries and meet the aspirations of the international community.”

Xi Jinping expressed hope that the two sides will uphold the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, strengthen dialog and communication, properly manage differences and expand win-win cooperation.

However, one of the flagships of Trump’s election campaign was the imposition of high duties on imports from Beijing (up to 60%). Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning was blunt on the matter: “Basically, I would like to re-emphasize that there will be no winners in a trade war, which is not positive for the whole world.”
