Xi Jinping Calls For International Peace Conference In Gaza

While there have been glimmers of hope in the past few hours for a possible truce in the Gaza Strip and the release of some Israeli hostages, Chinese President Xi Jinping is calling on the world to agree on lasting peace in the Middle East.

Xi Jinping spoke during the BRICS summit calling for an “international peace conference” that could end the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.

“There can be no lasting peace and security in the Middle East without a just solution to the Palestinian issue,” Xi said, calling for “international consensus.” “The international community must take practical measures to prevent the conflict from spreading and jeopardizing the stability of the entire Middle East.” The President also explained that it is extremely important for the conflicting parties to stop hostilities and achieve an immediate ceasefire. In particular, they need to urgently stop all violence and attacks on civilians, release prisoners, take measures to avoid further deaths, and maintain stable and secure humanitarian corridors in the Gaza Strip.

Once hostilities cease, it will be necessary to guarantee future stability by finding a solution in the form of Palestinian and Israeli states coexisting with one another. “The only real way to break the vicious circle of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict lies in a two-state solution, restoring the legitimate national rights of Palestine, and establishing an independent Palestinian state,” Xi Jinping explained.
