The Chinese leader's trip will take place from May 5 to 10, 2024
Chinese President Xi Jinping is preparing to make a trip to Europe, the first to the Old Continent since the covid pandemic.
Xi Jinping will visit France, Serbia, and Hungary from May 5 to 10. The presence in France was expected at the Elysee Palace, where they explained: “The visit will take place on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and after the president’s visit to Beijing and Guangzhou in April 2023.” The confirmation came from Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying, who explained: “At the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok, and Prime Minister Viktor Orban, President Xi Jinping will pay state visits to France, Serbia, and Hungary.”
Xi Jinping will be in Belgrade on May 8, the 25th anniversary of a NATO bomb hitting the Chinese embassy in Belgrade. Official representative Lin Jian explained that the trip is “vital for ties and will promote China-EU relations.” The conflict in Ukraine and trade disagreements between the EU and China, particularly over electric cars, photovoltaic systems, and medical devices, will be on the table, particularly in talks with Macron.
