Trump responded to Biden: “We debate whenever he wants, even in the White House.”
A direct verbal clash is expected between incumbent Joe Biden and Republican rival Donald Trump. Both have said they are “ready” to take part in a debate as part of the US presidential campaign running up to the November 5 election.
Biden’s statement came during an interview with popular radio host Howard Stern after Biden’s campaign team refused for months to confirm his willingness to participate in a presidential debate. “I’d be happy to do that, although I don’t know when,” Biden said.
It didn’t take long for the former US president to respond. Trump said he was ready “even immediately” to debate Biden after the current occupant of the White House officially announced his availability. Speaking to reporters in New York, Trump said that “we’re ready, you just need to tell me when and where you want to do it, even in the White House.” At the same time, Trump said he doubted Biden’s real willingness to have a discussion: “I’m not sure he wants to do that,” Trump stated. “If he wants to, we can do it anytime, but he’s obviously not going to show up now.”
